MODERATION AND QUALITY ASSURANCE NEWSLETTER

June 2024

A few members of the Quality Assurance and Enhancement team at the June Muka Tangata hui in Pōneke/Wellington.

He mihi

Kia ora koutou,

Welcome back to another quarter with the Muka Tangata Quality Assurance and Enhancement Team. The year is in full swing with the team carrying out online seminars, Q&A drop-in sessions, hui whakapūmau site visits and so much more. Our team recently attended a two-day all Muka Tangata hui in our Pōneke office where we reflected on our past achievements and spent time planning our future mahi with a focus on supporting our people. It was a fantastic way to calibrate mid-year.

We have some helpful tips, tricks and links and, in this edition, we’ve also included an update from our Qualifications and Standards team.

We’re excited to tackle Quarter 3 with you all.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi he toa takitini kē

Our success is a collaborative effort.

Ngā mihi nui

Tips and Tricks to meet moderation

One of the easiest things your team can do to ensure your post-moderation is a success is to ensure the material has been pre-moderated by us.

To start this process, simply email the blank assessment and marking guide with the pre-moderation coversheet to our moderation inbox.

A few things to remember:

  • The assessment material meets the Performance Criteria and range statement requirements for the unit standard.
  • The marking guide requires evidence statements/model answers and judgement statements.

  • Providing an evidence matrix which maps the Performance Criteria to the tasks in assessment is also required - we can provide a template if required.

  • Check the last date for assessment prior to starting work on the assessment material. This is at the bottom of the unit standard from NZQA.

If you’re in doubt email moderation@mukatangata.nz for clarification.

Review of Consent and Moderation Requirements

We are currently reviewing the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) documents as we have found that they do not align with our practices and requirements.

Thank you to those that have registered to be involved in the review. The expression of interest form has now closed and we will keep you up to date with progress.

If you have any questions or require further information, please contact moderation@mukatangata.nz.
